Excellent demonstration of the highly dangerous Tutti-frutti Maruti Fandango. Certainly not a trick for the faint of heart or the overly stressed. Congratulations to all involved for not dying.

Didn’t look like the car was going all that fast if 80 km was the posted limit. Seemed like the rider’s fault to me.

I’m not sure. From here, it’s hard to get a sense of the car’s speed before it started braking. Must be the angle.

The article does seem to favor the rider a bit much, though. I can see her head turning to check traffic at the start of the video, but her first check is to the right, and then she checks left, and then she doesn’t seem to bother checking right again. Even if she did notice the car as she pulled into the road, I don’t see any evasive maneuvering on her part.

You’re right about judging the speed. At the least I can’t see it being something where the driver was arrested, I don’t see where they really had an opportunity to react.

The rider really proceeded as if nothing was coming, zero sense of urgency. Probably fault on both sides, the driving maybe speeding and the rider didn’t aqeuately judge their surroundings.

Fine. Very fine actually. I’d never used the shop before but they turned out to know what they were doing and finished the job on time. The truck is running as sweet as ever. The mechanic working on it even commented positively on its overall mechanical condition saying “that’s a good one”. I now have a list of jobs that need doing like new tyres plus the dual mass flywheel is finally on its way out so it’ll be a race between it and the clutch - still, 270,000 km plus out of a clutch and flywheel is no bad effort I reckon.

Let’s just say though that the five hour drive home in the dark by myself was less wonderful. No misadventures but dancing with trucks in the dark on low beam is no way to spend an evening!
